Expecting Baby Madelyn.

Meet Viet & Jennifer! They're expecting their first baby this April. And it's a girl! This couple was SO amazing to work with. They came with their ideas in hand and had such great attitudes when it came to trying different things during their session. They were also totally committed and even got soaked in the water! The result were wonderful photos that just make me smile - hopefully you do too!

Photographs were captured at White Beach.

Happy New Year - the Ryukyu way!

My husband (Michael) and I drove down to celebrate the New Year the Okinawan(Ryukyu) way at Shuri Castle in Naha.  This world heritage site is the symbol of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Every year they hold a reenactment of traditional New Year ceremonies from January 1sr-3rd. We missed part of the ceremony because parking was so hard to find. I suggest if do you go, go early! Here are some photos of the "Uke-jo" ceremony and traditional performances that followed afterwards.

Ginuwine. He still got it.

I had his album in junior high, did you?! So anxious, None of Ur Friends Business, Pony - just a few songs that might ring a bell. At the ripe age of 44, I didn't know if he could hold down a crowd like he used to. But as you can see from the photos, he did not disappoint. Thanks Ginuwine for the free entertainment & for supporting the troops! (Side note: Michael and I felt super old because there were a bunch of much younger people rapping all the words to some songs that the DJ played after the concert was over. Me: "Do you know these songs?!" Michael: "NO, we're not cool anymore." ::sigh::) Relive your youth: www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7P6ut6HPR8

Yomitan Pottery Village

1/6/2015

Comments

Last month, my husband's co-worker was nice enough to invite us to check out the Yomitan Pottery Village. The Village is home to about 45 local artisans and is open throughout the year. The best time to go, though, is when they have their annual sale during the 3rd week of December. I've been told that people from mainland Japan come to Okinawa just for this sale. Items range from as low as $5 all the way up to $500 plus. This is the perfect place to pick up beautifully made bowls, plates and shisa. You should definitely check it out if you're ever visiting the island.
